WOODEN FACADE
Falu Rödfärg WOODEN FACADE
is a modern linseed oil paint developed primarily for house facades made of spruce or pine where a matte surface is desired. It gives a similar look and feel to Falu Rödfärg mud paint but is more flexible.
It is very easy and rewarding to paint with for both new and repainting. The linseed oil base in Träfasad means that the paint – unlike mud paint – can be painted on more types of surfaces, for example on wooden surfaces with aged alkyd, linseed oil paint or on old mud paint that is really ripe for repainting.
However, it is not recommended that it be used on surfaces previously painted with so-called acrylate paint. Acrylate is “thermoplastic”, which means that it moves at different temperatures and thus causes cracks and flaking.
THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT
- New untreated wood should be brushed clean of dirt and dust.
- On previously painted surfaces, all loose paint and wood, so-called grey wood, should be removed with a scraper or wire brush.
- Then brush away all loose dust.
- The surfaces should be washed with a suitable facade cleaning agent.
- If there is, or is a risk of, mold spores, it is very important that the surfaces are first treated with a growth inhibitor.
- Stir the paint thoroughly.
- On new untreated wood, dilute the paint with 10% water for the first coat.
- Let dry for about 2 days. Then coat once with undiluted paint.
- Previously painted surfaces are normally painted once with undiluted paint.
- On heavily exposed surfaces, for example surfaces with a south or west orientation, it is advantageous to coat an extra coat for extra long durability.
